Tribal Phase Icon Tribal Phase

After a player's creature as developed enough intelligence, the Tribal Phase can begin. This phase is similar to an RTS (real-time strategy) game where the creature's physical evolution ceases and the game focuses on tribal development. The player is provided with a hut and a group of fully-evolved creatures. A mini-map of the world is also provided, along with two out of six available "super powers" determined by the choices the player made during the cell and creature stage.

Players no longer have to worry about physical evolution. They instead focus on evolving the efficiency and effectiveness of the tribe collectively. The gameplay is comparable to that of the game 'Populous'.

The tribe may obtain weapons, musical instruments, fishing tools and healing supplies. DNA points are replaced by food, which can be spent as currency on structures and items.

Creatures can now also wear clothes which can be tailored by the player in the Creature Editor, which is now called the 'Tribal Editor'. Other lesser-evolved creatures can be domesticated by the player's Tribe as pets or livestock. As tribe members take on specialized jobs, the clothing the player purchases for the creatures are related to their line of work. The types of roles the tribe members take on are completely controlled by the player. Aggressive gameplay will breed aggressive roles, while peaceful gameplay will cause the tribe to develope more passive roles.

Language is also developed depending upon the type of mouth the creature possesses.

Tribe members can be assigned various jobs, some passive such as fishing or gathering, and others aggressive such as hunting and combat.

The player's Tribe must deal with five neighboring tribes which can either be befriended or destroyed, and doing either increases the tribe's population.
