Creature PhaseOnce a creature has evolved sufficiently in the Cell Phase, it's time to grow some legs, and make your first foray onto dry land. Like the Cell Phase, the Creature Phase mostly revolves around the "eat or be eaten" concept, as players force their creature to venture away from their home and out into the world to face and overcome a dangerous world. The Creature Phase is in full 3D.
Other rival creatures inhabit the world alongside the player's, mostly created by other players. These new creatures will be downloaded into the world based on the strength of the player's creature to maintain a balanced ecosystem.
This phase also introduces a social aspect through which creatures can earn DNA points as a nonviolent alternative to consuming other creatures. The player's creature can forge alliances with other creatures to ward against rivals and predators.
Quests are assigned by the game when the player interacts with other creatures. The nature of these quests depends upon what stance the player's creature is in. If it's a social stance, the mission goal will be to befriend a certain number of species. If it's a combative stance, the goal will be to kill a certain number of rival creatures.
The game transitions to a fully 3D world, featuring day and night cycles and weather effects such as rainstorms.
Creatures also now have stats for certain abilities, attacks, and social behaviors using a numeric rating system. By adding certain body parts, the ability to perform actions, such as "Call" for example, are unlocked. Limited flight abilities such as gliding can also be achieved.
The most important aspect of socialization is helping the creature find a mate. After finding a mate and producing an egg, players will need to protect the eggs from predators and thievery. Eventually, the egg will hatch into a new offspring and players will have the opportunity to edit the creature further, spending more DNA points to add or remove characteristics. When the egg hatches, players will need to nurture and raise the baby creature, helping it to make friends and to learn. To transition from the Creature Phase to the Tribal Phase, the player's creature is required to develop intelligence through social interaction.
